Max Overload! - Part 4 (and the last part, for now)

And so we come to the final strip from Max Overload!, and it's a doozy! Definitely a case of "shit game, great comic" with this one, as it's about Greendog - which is a very, VERY boring platformer for the Mega Drive. Drawn by ILYA (aka Ed Hillyer, of Deadline and Crisis fame) and written by Ian Carney (who, along with Woodrow Phoenix created the intriguingly titled humour anthology SugarBuzz). Enjoy.

And on that cliff-hanger, the adventure ends! What will become of Greendog? Will he be snipped in two by King Klaw, or will Fetch save the day? Find out the answers by finding issue 2 of Max Overload! And if you DO find it, give it to me! Never seen it anywhere, ever. But it MUST be out there, surely?

Meanwhile, there's some more games-related comics to enjoy, courtesy of Blow The Cartridge. Go on, click the link. They're mostly good!

  1. Thought you may be interested Theres a guy on this forum named joefish who says has both issues:

"And I do have both published issues of Dark Horse's Maximum Overload. I was gutted when it was cancelled, but more so by the cancellation of the UK version of the Aliens comic that Dark Horse UK were also publishing when they closed up shop. Apparently there was a third issue worth of many of the Maximum Overload strips already drawn that never saw the light of day. That would be something great to recover. The Lemmings strip was genuinely hilarious."

That was from 2011 but seems like he still regularly posts there.
maybe you could contact him and get some scans.

    1. Cheers for that - I'm a member there myself (since 2008), so I'll see if I can wrestle any scans out of him.

  3. um, ILYA here, arriving late to the party like ever, but fashionably so...I think I did 3 episodes of GREENDOG in all and the third was never published, but I have the artwork still. If there's interest after all this time, I could TRY and scan and post...it had dinosaurs and everything. my best paint job so far. thank you for the revival and bringing back old meme-ories

    1. Oh wow, hi ILYA!
Plenty of interest from me and I'm sure others too... Just before Xmas I finally found the second issue of MAX Overload (after 22 years of searching), I'll be getting that scanned in shortly - the possibility of seeing a third episode is an exciting one, definitely :)
